When Wii Fit arrived back in 2008, the title proved to be a massive success with the console’s casual crowd, selling 22.67 million copies. Unfortunately, the game’s Wii U follow-up wasn’t nearly as successful, languishing on a console that had plenty of problems of its own. Now that Switch is a bona fide success story, Nintendo is giving the fitness genre another high-profile launch with Fitness Boxing, arriving just in time for those New Year’s resolutions!
While Nintendo’s previous fitness titles were developed in-house, Fitness Boxing arrives on Switch courtesy of Imagineer. Naturally, Fitness Boxing will take advantage of the system’s Joy-Con controllers for motion control, in a manner similar to the Rhythm Boxing exercises from Wii Fit. The upcoming title will boast a number of modes based on the player’s intended level of intensity, while tracking calories burned based on the player’s estimated body mass index. Finally, the game also offers multiplayer support in the form of both two-player co-op as well as competitive boxing matches!
Fitness Boxing will arrive in North America on January 4.
