We’ve become accustomed to seeing Pokémon from each new generation’s games revealed before the games’ launch, in particular the evolutions of the three main starters. Speaking for myself, it’s been a good way of figuring out who my starter is going to be before I’ve even fired up the games, based on which is destined to look the coolest by their final evolution.
But we’re less than a month from Pokémon Sword and Shield’s release and we still haven’t seen the second and final evolutions of this game’s starter trio. And that’s exactly how The Pokémon Company wants it. They’ve confirmed that they’re deliberately keeping most of this generation’s Pokémon under wraps because they want players to discover them during gameplay.
It’s not exactly unreasonable to want players to uncover things while, you know, playing the game and it’ll be interesting to see if this is the new direction The Pokémon Company will be taking the games in moving forward.
How do you feel about the decision to keep as much under wraps as possible before launching Pokémon Sword and Shield? Are you disappointed that you won’t know the starters’ final evolutions before the games launch? Let us know in the comments.
