With E3 in full swing, Nintendo has been showing off a slew of upcoming games — but arguably none are as anticipated as Super Mario Odyssey.
A brand-new gameplay trailer was unveiled during the Nintendo Spotlight which (in addition to a T-Rex) contained plenty of new information. Check out the full trailer below:
Ah yes… the T-Rex. In-game characters and worlds in Odyssey may look radically different to Mario’s standard art-style, with players exploring a variety of new worlds far away from the Mushroom Kingdom.
The trailer also showed off the fact that Mario can now temporarily possess in-game items and characters by tossing his cap at them, which can be useful for solving puzzles or to gain special abilities.
Of course, if the trailer’s theme song is anything to go by, Nintendo is playing special attention to Odyssey‘s soundtrack this time around!

Nintendo also separately confirmed that Odyssey will support all previously released amiibo in some form or another. Additionally, new amiibo featuring Mario, Bowser and Peach in their wedding costumes is being prepared alongside the game.
While Super Mario Odyssey will be available from the eShop, Nintendo also shared the box art for the physical version of the game:

Plenty more footage of the game was shown off during the Treehouse Live event, and you can catch a look at the Wooded Kingdom world here.
Perhaps Nintendo’s biggest Super Mario Odyssey announcement though, was a sooner than expected release date of October 27 2017.
You can look forward to plenty more coverage of the game in the coming weeks and in the run up to Odyssey‘s launch.
