Given Bethesda’s support of Switch with great ports of Skyrim and Doom, one couldn’t blame gamers for wondering what other games the publisher might be preparing for Nintendo’s hybrid console aside from the upcoming Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. At the company’s E3 press conference, we finally got our answer in the form of a port of the hugely successful, free-to-play Fallout Shelter. And it’s out now!
Fallout Shelter is based on Bethesda’s acclaimed series of post-apocalyptic RPGs, but refocuses the gameplay on managing a vault full of survivors trying to make it in the irradiated ruins of an alternate history America. Players expand their vaults as their populations grow with more survivors who can then be sent on a variety of highly dangerous missions. The bleak nature of the setting is made all the more charming thanks to the 1950s inspired art style the series is famous for.
The game was released alongside its announcement, so it’s available to download right now for free. Of course, the non-existent price tag means there are in-game purchases for those willing to drop a few bucks to hasten their progress.
