Alas, while much of the rest of the world has been picking up the pieces as COVID-19 restrictions began to lift, the folks at the ESA decided to hold firm and refrain from holding an in-person (or even digital) version of E3 in 2022. That is set to change in 2022 as the exhibition will once again return to the Los Angeles Convention Center in the summer of 2023 from June 13 to June 16. According to GamesIndustry.biz, E3 is going to be doing everything it can to make the event as friendly as possible to both consumers and business entities in attendance. The last E3 prior to the pandemic was co-ed affair where both parties rubbed elbows in the same spaces. This will no longer be the case.

Instead, space within the convention center, along with time, will be carved out so that everyone from journalists to developers can connect separately from fans. Fans, meanwhile, will have their own dedicated times and spaces to enjoy the fun. The hope is that by catering to each group independently of one another that some of the chaos that followed the transition of E3 from being only for industry folks will subside. People on the business side can look forward to exclusive insights about the event, while attendees who are just there can partake in a revamped E3 app with new, dedicated spaces to meet up.

Finally, those who decide to exhibit at E3 or even around it at outlying venues will all be able to opt in under a single marketing umbrella. Meaning, if a company decides to set up shop in a nearby hotel, for instance, they’ll still be able to lay claim to being at E3 despite not having a presence in the convention center. It’s looking like E3 ’23 is shaping up to be a return to form for the legendary event, and Nintendojo couldn’t be happier. Are you looking forward to E3’s return next year?
