During the opening of a new Dragon Quest-themed attraction today at Universal Studios Japan, series creator Yuji Horii shared a new update on the upcoming Dragon Quest XI.
“Everyone in the staff is working incredibly hard on it. I believe we’ll have some kind of announcement in the coming days, so please look forward to it.”
Horii has mentioned in the past that he hoped to see the release of the game at some point during the 30th anniversary of the series, which started on May 27 last year. With this in mind, it seems possible that the announcement that Horii is teasing us with may be a release date for the long-awaited game.
Dragon Quest XI is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4. We will be sure to share details about this announcement when we hear more on it.
In the meantime, Horii urged attendees at the opening ceremony of the attraction that “Life is role-playing. So go out there, and do your best as the protagonist!”
