Many Switch owners were pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago when id Software and Bethesda announced they would be porting Doom to Switch and they weren’t talking about the mid 1993 original. Last year, id rebooted the classic FPS franchise to critical acclaim by eschewing many of the conventions that have come to define the genre while updating the speed and intensity. Now we know when we’ll be able to battle the hordes of Hell on-the-go.
The announcement was made during a recently released video which features the game’s developers discussing the new port. After discussing the game, as well as the process of porting it to Switch’s unique hardware, they revealed a November 10 release date. You can check out the full video below, which shows how the game still looks great and runs smoothly, despite concerns some might have had regarding the Switch’s relative lack of processing power compared to other consoles and high end PCs.
This release date also means Doom will be Bethesda’s first big release among several upcoming titles. Skyrim will launch on Switch on November 17 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is currently planned for some time in 2018.
