If you’ve been hoping for disaster to befall Switch (you cruel, cruel person), you’re in luck… well, kind of. Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020. The game casts players as a survivor in a ravaged city looking for a way out. Finding safe routes and weaving through a landscape of devastated skyscrapers is a huge part of the experience, as well as interacting with a variety of characters. Here’s the description straight from NIS America:
A calm summer day turns into catastrophe when a massive earthquake strikes your city, throwing buildings and lives into chaos. In order to survive, you must navigate familiar locations under unfamiliar circumstances. The fellow survivors you meet and crucial decisions you make will affect the course of your experience and ultimately determine how your journey through this crisis will end.
It’s pretty exciting looking stuff if the trailer is anything to go off of. Here’s a list of what features will be available in the game:
– Stop! Think! Then Act! – Evaluate each perilous situation and make decisions that will impact your own safety as well as that of others.
– Torn From the Headlines – Interact with realistic scenarios within a Japanese city devastated by an earthquake, including scenarios designed in collaboration with the Kobe City Fire Bureau.
– Danger Around Every Corner – Navigate a multitude of crises—from collapsing buildings to raging fires—in a city aplomb with peril.
Note that the game will be in Japanese but with English subtitles. Disaster Report 4 doesn’t have a confirmed release date beyond that 2020 window, but there is word from NIS that the limited edition pictured below will also be available for Switch.
