Developer Moondrop and publisher Modus Games are bringing the 2D puzzle platformer Degrees of Separation to Nintendo Switch on February 14, 2019.
The game’s protagonists, Ember and Rime, are able to harness the power to manipulate heat and cold, and players must learn how to master each ability. Players are encouraged to experiment with using their powers on the surrounding environment in this non-linear world, as they guide Ember and Rime toward a common goal. Ember can melt a nearby river that’s frozen over, while Rime can turn it back into ice just as easily. According to Modus Games, the combination of the gameplay, narrative, and character development make for a “powerful emotional experience”.
The game’s narrative was written by industry veteran and games writer Chris Avellone, best known for his work on Planescape: Torment, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, and Neverwinter Nights 2.
With dual protagonists and opposing powers, the game seems particularly well-suited for co-op, which is supported alongside solo play.
What do you think of Degrees of Separation so far? Will you be adding it to your Switch library on Valentine’s Day 2019?
