Ever since Nintendo started charging for its online services, it has been a somewhat contentious issue. People were excited to learn that subscribing to the service would net you access to a growing library of classic games; however, that library has been growing more slowly than expected and so far it’s been limited to NES games. After the recent efforts of dataminers though, it looks we might see a significant expansion sooner or later.
One dataminer, KappucinoHeck, recently posted a list of SNES games to twitter after finding code for them in some of the files pushed to systems alongside the NES game updates. The number of Nintendo developed classics isn’t surprising, though the inclusions of Star Fox 2 and a few lesser known Capcom gems, Demon’s Crest and Breath of Fire 2, are definitely interesting. Naturally, there are a few left-field titles as well. Check out the full list below:
Star Fox 2 (lol)
Super Punch-Out!!
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Super Mario All-Stars
Breath of Fire 2— Kapu | gamers will perish (@KapuccinoHeck) January 13, 2019
Of course, none of this is even close to official yet. The efforts of dataminers in the past has often been quite revelatory and accurate, but nothing can truly be set in stone until Nintendo makes an official announcement and, as usual, they are in no rush to comment on this sort of speculation.
