Darkwood, “the one and only survival horror [game] without jump scares,” according to developer Acid Wizard Studio, is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 16.

This narrative-heavy, procedurally generated title from publisher Crunching Koalas follows the protagonist, who wakes up in a possessed forest in Poland in the mid-1980s — escaping the forest is the only option for survival. He will have to explore, scavenge, craft items, complete quests, and fortify his hideout, which is the only place where he can remain safe during the night.

The game features a day-night cycle, which allows the protagonist to explore the forest during the day, but forces him to return to the safety of his hideout during the night. There is also a branching storyline, so your decisions will apparently determine the fate of the denizens of Darkwood.

Darkwood is coming to Switch, PS4 and Xbox One later this month. Will you be downloading it? Let us know in the comments.
