When the Wii U first released, a number of the system’s initial third party offerings were ports of older games that debuted on Xbox 360 and PS3. Third parties seemed to bank on the fact that Nintendo fans would flock to these games, as they hadn’t been released on their platform of choice. Many of the titles tanked, however, as there was little incentive for them to be revisited. Switch has also seen a plethora of ports, however, these games are now available on-the-go, giving players much more incentive to check out older titles. The latest major title is Namco Bandai’s Dark Souls: Remastered. Originally released back in 2011, the title will arrive on Switch with a number of improvements, including Amiibo support!

Launching alongside the title is an Amiibo of Solaire of Astora. Tapping the Amiibo will allow players to use the game’s “Praise the Sun” gesture. It’s unknown if the Amiibo will unlock anything else, at this time.

Dark Souls: Remastered will arrive on Switch May 25. A network test will be available prior, though no release date has been announced. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information as it develops!
