Capcom made a big push with its major franchises last year, and in its most recent financial report it looks like that strategy paid off. Not only did the company see strong sales among many of its releases, but they also lead to record breaking third quarter profits.
The Mega Man series received a lot of focus last year with not only Mega Man 11 being released, but two Mega Man X collections also came out. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate also finally saw a release in markets outside of Japan and continued the strong momentum the series has enjoyed recently. Finally, Onimusha Warlords received an HD remaster and while it’s only been out a short while, sales have been strong so far.
While the report didn’t give specific numbers for the individual games, Capcom did report in a Q&A after the briefing that Mega Man 11 sold 870,000 copies last year, across all platforms. Total sales for the company were in excess of 61 billion yen which represents a 28.3 percent increase over last year as well as a big, 92 percent boost to actual income.
