It all depends on how well Resident Evil 7 does on the console.

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Capcom has said there’s a distinct possibility that it could bring more cloud-based games to Nintendo Switch.

Capcom recently ported Resident Evil 7 to Nintendo Switch in Japan, but opted for a cloud-based experience that requires players to pay for play time. While the game features an English language option, it’s nearly unplayable outside of Japan due to serious connection issues and there has been no announcement to release the port in the west.

The company is waiting to see how successful Resident Evil 7 will be on Switch before considering what other cloud-based games they may want to release on the console.

Would you play a cloud-based Resident Evil 7 on Switch? What other Capcom titles do you think would make a successful transition to the cloud-based format?

My internet isn’t good enough for this to even matter, but I wouldn’t even consider paying more than $5-10 to play a cloud-based game.

It’s essentially a rental, and I would expect to pay for it as such.
