Despite Nintendo claiming that it’s done with the retro console business for the foreseeable future, other companies are not following suit. We already have Sega Genesis Mini heading our way this September, but now Capcom is entering the ring with its own old-school system. It’s an interesting move considering Capcom has never produced its own hardware outside of arcade cabinets. Which is perhaps why Capcom’s Home Arcade is so fitting for the company’s first console offering:

Announced by Capcom UK, Capcom Home Arcade is a brilliant addition to the retro console landscape. Shaped like the Capcom logo, the unit boasts 16 classic arcade titles:
1944: The Loop Master
Alien vs Predator
Armored Warriors
Capcom Sports Club
Captain Commando
Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Eco Fighters
Final Fight
Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
Giga Wing
Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
Mega Man: The Power Battle
Progear
Strider
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Emulation is apparently being done by FB Alpha with ROMs pulled straight from Capcom’s CPS1 and CPS2 arcade units. Capcom Home Arcade also has Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT sticks with 8-way GT-Y directional gates and OBSF buttons, meaning this is shaping up to be one of the most authentic arcade cabinet experiences outside of dragging an actual arcade cabinet into your house. The system is expected to go on sale October 25 for £199.99/€229.99. As of this writing, details about pricing and availability in North America are still forthcoming.
In short, this is really freaking cool and this writer hopes the retro wave doesn’t subside, like, ever.
