Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is a sequel to the 1998 PlayStation cult classic Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena. This strategy RPG has finally landed on Switch and is being offered as a digital download as well as a physical edition, which is being produced by Limited Run Games (note, preorders with LRG have closed, so if you’re interested in a cartridge you’ll likely have to go through a third-party seller). Featuring a Fantasy world conquest within the turn-based strategy genre, Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia will offer hundreds of hours of immersive gameplay in this stunning new campaign for conquest. Players choose one of six nations to assume the role of the ruler aiming to conquer Runersia. As a ruler, players will command more than 100 Rune Knights throughout the six nations leading various monster troops of various dragons, ghouls, and fairies, into fierce battles on hexagonal grid maps in the tactical turn-based battle system.

Raita Kazama, an illustrator best known for his character and monster designs in Xenoblade Chronicles, Puzzle & Dragon, and more, has provided the artwork here in Brigandine. This looks like an appealing entry in a series with a dedicated fan base. If you’re itching for some fresh SRPG action on Switch, Brigangine might be worthy of a look!
