It’s been known for almost a year now that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not just one of the greatest Zelda titles ever made, but also one of the greatest games of all-time. Japanese consumers seem to agree, as Breath of the Wild has reached another sales milestone in the region with one million units sold. The total is cumulative, reflecting the combined sales numbers of both the Switch and Wii U iterations of the game.
This is significant because in Japan, this makes Breath of the Wild the best-selling Zelda title since Ocarina of Time way back in 1998. Considering the sales numbers don’t include digital downloads, odds are that Breath of the Wild is likely a decent amount ahead of the million units being reported. This is great news for Nintendo as it continues to rebound from the commercial failure of Wii U.
