Developer ArtPlay has also laid down the 2020 road map for what to expect from Bloodstained for the rest of the year and beyond. Give it a look:
Each quarter of the year will be bringing something different to the table. Let’s go through what to expect in Q2, as outlined by publisher 505 Games’ and ArtPlay’s press release:
- Boss Revenge Mode: Players can thank the Kickstarter community for this new free gameplay mode in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – a direct result of community support in helping the game surpass its final $5.5M stretch funding goal. In this mode, accessible by entering the transition room in-game, players will face off against four in-game bosses fast and furiously to get the best clear time.
- Chroma Wheel: The salon is back in business with more options than ever in color palette for character customization, including hair, clothing, and skin. Players can return to Todd the Barber, Bloodstained’s demonic scissor-wielding hair stylist, and switch up their look with a true color selector and eliminating pre-set options previously available.
Here’s Q3:
- VS Mode (Local/Online) : A tense survival mode where players compete by indirectly attacking each another.
- Chaos Mode (Local/Online): A specialized boss rush for 1 or 2 players. The mode includes randomized drops and special sub goals that will grant more equipment when completed. Collect the best, drop the rest as you build power to defeat all the bosses!
- Classic Mode: It’s Bloodstained 80s-style as Miriam faces off against a series of sub-bosses laid out across five harrowing stages and three difficulty levels.
And finally, Q4:
- Playable Character: Bloodstained’s 3rd playable character after Miriam and Zangetsu. (It’s not Dominique)
Mystery character inbound! There’s so much to look forward to for Bloodstained fans, and talk about a major accomplishment for what started out as a humble Castlevania homage. We’ll leave you with designer Koji Igarashi’s thank you message and hope you’ll comment below and online with your thoughts about Bloodstained’s success.
