A recent leak suggests that Banjo (the bird and bag carrying bear from Banjo-Kazooie) may be the next DLC character coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Shinobi602 made the seemingly innocent remark on the forum ResetEra, teasing “Been a while since we saw Banjo in anything. Hope we’re in for a smashing good time.”
Normally, we wouldn’t put much weight beyond a simple comment like this, but shinobi602 has apparently been responsible for a number of leaks over the years. He leaked the setting of God of War months before it became public knowledge and even teased that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be revealed in the March 2018 Nintendo Direct.
Of course, nothing is official until it has been confirmed by Nintendo themselves, who have yet to announced who the next DLC character will be for the game. It’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibilities though as many characters in the game are owned by third parties, including the most recent DLC character, Persona 5’s Joker.
More information on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s DLC characters will likely be revealed in next week’s Nintendo Direct, which is taking place on Tuesday at 9am PT / 12pm ET.
In the meantime, what do you think? Is Banjo finally headed for Smash Bros.?
