If there is one thing independent developers have proven in recent years, it’s that when big publishers leave big holes in the market by ignoring or downplaying beloved franchises, then gamers will be more than happy to support developers who fill those holes. Inti Creates’ Azure Striker Gunvolt offers more evidence to support this theory with an impressive 130,000 units sold. The developer, who had worked on Mega Man games in the past, has definitely profited from the Blue Bomber’s relative absent in recent decades.
In all fairness, though, it’s not just a lack of Mega Man that has made Azure Striker Gunvolt successful; it definitely helps that it also happens to be a really good game. Most reviews are extremely positive on the title, and ours is no exception. Hopefully Inti’s other, upcoming retro-infused games Mighty No. 9 and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, will prove to be just as good, and just as successful.

I still haven’t bought this for some reason, though I have played the demo and have mighty gunvolt. Was waiting for a sale, but if it’s selling well probably will never happen. Along with a few other games that for whatever reason never go on sale. It’s hard to pay full price for nothing. It is a good game though from what I’ve played of the demo.
