Indie developers continue to flock to Switch for a number of reasons: the system continues to sell well, games on the system are outperforming other platforms, and its very nature makes it a great fit for the retro and arcade inspired experiences many independent developers are creating. Considering this, it should come to know surprise that a new shmup has been announced for Switch: Astebreed.
Created by Japanese developer Edelweiss, Astebreed was originally released on PC back in 2014 and features 3D visuals alongside its more classic gameplay consisting of both top-down and side-scrolling stages. Also, judging by the trailer, it appears it leans quite heavily into its anime aesthetic and storytelling. Check it out below for a better idea of how it plays.
No release date has been announced yet so be sure to stay tuned for that somewhere down the line.
