Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, were launched as interesting experiments in fusing the structure of classic Pokémon games with mechanics from its popular mobile spin-off, Pokémon Go. So far, the games have proven incredibly successful, selling millions of units in their first few months on the market. But Nintendo isn’t finished, because it looks like they are kicking off another marketing push targeting another segment of Pokémon consumers- fans of the anime.
A new commercial features Ash Ketchum, the anime’s lead, commenting on the joy of running around with your own Pikachu friend during your Pokémon adventure. The footage shows off a lot of brief clips from the game, but there’s a definite focus on how you can interact with your main Pokémon. Check out the video below:
Considering the fact there are two versions of the game featuring different lead creatures, this commercial is very Pikachu focused. It’s not really surprising seeing how the electric type has been the series’ de facto mascot for both the games and the anime, but it might be a little disappointing for the hardcore Eevee fans. If only Eevee had a popular enough anime character who could throw around their star power!
