Are Ultra Shinies Coming to the Pokémon Franchise?

Shinies: those elusive, extremely rare Pokémon with alternate color schemes that every trainer hopes to be lucky enough to stumble across in the wild or hatch from an egg. Collectors the world over spend hours seeking out these collectible, rare monsters, but a Twitter user has stumbled across something that suggests that an even rarer form of shiny is coming to the Pokémon franchise.

@pokexperto recently noticed that Game Freak submitted a Japense trademark for something that roughly translates to “ultra shiny”:

Given that this isn’t an announcement from Game Freak themselves, there’s no other information available on this, for example, whether this would be coming to Pokémon Go or a future game in the series.
