NES classic Tecmo Bowl has likely become a mainstay for many Nintendo Switch Online subscribers (or never stopped being one for you longtime fans), but have you ever wondered what things could have been like if the game had an official NFL license? Although the names of many famous players and the cities they played in are featured in Tecmo Bowl, the actual NFL team names were never used. Well, apparel maker Homage is partnering up with Koei Tecmo to make a range of t-shirts to offer fans a glimpse of what that might have been like.
The shirts boast an 8-bit interpretation of each team’s logo and the name of a player. The lineup will eventually feature all 32 NFL teams, but the first shirt to be made available will be the basic Tecmo Bowl logo on November 2. Take a look:
- Howie Long, Los Angeles Raiders
- Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers
- Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions
- John Elway, Denver Broncos
- Jim Kelly, Buffalo Bills
- Randall Cunningham, Philadelphia Eagles
- Christian Okoye, Kansas City Chiefs
- Thurman Thomas, Buffalo Bills
- Derrick Thomas, Kansas City Chiefs
- Clay Matthews, Cleveland Browns
NFL fans might notice that the team city matches where they were located back in 1989 when Tecmo Bowl first launched. If you’re interested in learning more about the line, click the link down below.
