For the comic book and manga fans among us, the first Saturday in May is always a special day of the year. That’s because it’s Free Comic Book Day, where comic shops all over the country join forces with the big comic book publishing houses and give out a smattering of free comics to entice readers. Among the offerings this year, VIZ and UDON will be joining in to bring comics based on Animal Crossing, Kirby, and Street Fighter.

First up is the Animal Crossing/Kirby combo. These are reprints from VIZ’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Deserted Island  Diary and Kirby Manga Mania series. Here’s what to expect:

Animal Crossing:
Read the gag-filled adventures of four goofy residents living among the Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters!
Kirby Manga Mania:
Jump into Dream Land with Kirby and gobble up some fun! Everyone’s favorite pink puff teams up with his friends to keep arch-frenemy King Dedede in line. Fans of all ages can enjoy this sampling of a classic Kirby comic; just take a deep breath and hop on in!

Meanwhile, UDON is releasing the zero issue of its Street Fighter 6 prequel comic. The details:

Street Fighter 6 #0
It’s a whole new generation of World Warriors! In this issue, mixed martial artist Luke puts his special forces training to use against a group of art thieves, while sadistic kickboxer Juri faces off against graffiti ninja Kimberly! It’s all out action in this official prequel to the new Street Fighter 6 video game! Pick this special one-shot up before the Street Fighter 6 4-issue miniseries, also launching in May!

UDON’s Matt Moylan is handling writing duties, while Gonzalo “Genzoman” Ordoñez be tackling art. Meanwhile, Edwin Huang is providing the cover. If you’re interested in grabbing either of these books, we highly recommend hitting up your local comic shop bright and early, as not all stores carry the same quantities of any given book. Both of these titles are considered Silver Sponsor tier, so shops might not be carrying quite as many.

Will you be venturing out to get either of these comics on May 6? Let us know in the comments and on social media!
