Although Nintendo is billing this as the final free DLC update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, boy—it is a whopper of content. Much of it pertaining to things that many a player has been asking for since New Horizons launched in March 2021. It’s so much to go over, so let’s leap right into it.

  • The Roost: First up, Brewster and The Roost are back, as teased during the last Nintendo Direct broadcast. This time around, the beloved coffee shop will be a more bustling hub of interactivity. Using the amiibo phone in the shop, you can call in villagers using amiibo cards and figurines to sit and have a cup of joe. What’s more, other island residents will randomly pop in, too, and you can also invite friends.
  • Return of the Kapp’n: Kapp’n is back! Jump aboard his boat and he’ll take you to a random island to visit. The time of day and terrain of the islands will all differ. Along the way, Kapp’n will also serenade you with his dulcet tones.

  • Gryoid Comeback: Gyroids are also returning. They can be found in the ground and, when arranged in your home, will emit a variety of different sounds and tones. They can also be customized.
  • Harv’s Island Overhaul: Harv’s Island is seeing some significant renovation work in the form of new shops. Familiar friends like Leif and Kicks will eventually open little trailer shops that they’ll sell their wares from all the time. Dubbed the Open Market, it has made Harv’s retreat a lot more interesting than it arguably was before.
  • Cooking Time: Islanders can now cook! Grow crops, collect ingredients, and either eat your food or use it to decorate your tables.

There’s a bunch more to look forward to beyond all of this. You can also arrange your furniture more closely than ever before, which allows for more realistic layouts. You’ll have to squeeze between tight gaps, but the freedom to decorate is far greater than before. There are lights and other pieces of furniture that can be hung from ceilings, partitions and counters to build, accent walls—it is a metric ton of content and changes that are on the way. We’ll get even more into the new changes and additions once it launches, but in the interim tell us what you think down in the comments!
