Analogue, maker of the popular Analogue Pocket handheld, is back at it with a new piece of retro gaming hardware. Analogue 3D is promising to deliver Nintendo 64 games in 4K starting in 2024. The console is built on FPGA and running a custom Analogue OS, the system is promising to run the entirety of the N64 catalogue of games. One assumes this includes titles that required the N64 Expansion Pack like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Donkey Kong 64.
Analogue 3D is also coming with four controller ports for players to plug in original N64 pads, but those who prefer a more modern, wireless controller option, the company is partnering with 8Bitdo for one. However, like the console itself, Analogue is keeping the final designs of both the 3D and the controller under wraps for now. Analogue 3D is also set to offer a range of display options to help replicate the look of playing on old CRT setups, so retrophiles looking for a more authentic gameplay experience will likely enjoy that. The system is also not region locked, meaning you can plug in and play carts from any N64 from around the globe. There’s no option for emulation with the Analogue 3D, making this a cartridge-only option for fans.
Sadly, there’s no word just yet on when fans will be able to get in a pre-order for the console, but feel free in the interim to head to the Analogue website and sign up for notifications.
