Toriyama is one of the most influential creators of his generation. In the worlds of manga and anime, he can be credited for the creation of the beloved Dragon Ball franchise, which has seen multiple sequels and iterations. For video game players, his contributions to the Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest series and Chrono Trigger, among others, will be forever remembered. And that is just scratching the surface of the multiple creative endeavors Toriyama undertook through his decades-long career.
As the statement points out, Toriyama was still busy working on multiple projects right up to his passing. Funeral services were already held with Toriyama’s friends and family, with a possible public remembrance still being considered. We extend our condolences to Toriyama’s loved ones, and share in the grief that countless fans are feeling as they discover this sad news. It isn’t often that someone of Toriyama’s extraordinary talents come around—he will be truly missed.
