Nintendo recently released its first smartphone title, Miitomo, in Japan this week (where it quickly climbed to the number one spot among social networking apps on the Japanese App Store), with a US release set to follow later this month. To get fans up to speed on the unusual game, Nintendo has released the first English trailer for Miitomo.

Miitomo isn’t a traditional mobile game, but rather a social app reminiscent of Tomodachi Life. Players begin by creating a Mii character, adjusting their personality traits just as in the 3DS life sim. Once your Mii is set, it’ll move into an apartment and ask you different questions, which it can then share with friends. The app also contains a Miifoto mode that allows you to take photos of your Mii in different settings.

Miitomo will be released as a free download later this month on the App Store and Google Play. Are you interested in giving Nintendo’s first mobile experiment a try? Let us know in the comments!
