Warren Spector’s favorite “desert island game” is Tetris

His favorite non-desert-island game? The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past. That, along with his disappointments with the industry can be found in the latest interview with the designer of Epic Mickey.

“My favourite narrative game is Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES, although I have it and have played it on every platform its ever been on. My desert island game, if I could only play one game for the rest of my life, would absolutely be Tetris.

“We just focus on prettier pictures and flashier graphics attached to more impressive combat scenarios, and honestly, that just bores me.”

A first look at Memorex Wii accessories

If you’re looking for a (most likely) cheaper alternative for Nintendo’s first party controller, take a look at Memorex’s take on the Wii remote. Concept art for Donkey Kong Country Returns is mind blowing

Nintendo characters are so emblematic nowadays that Nintendo can’t take a lot of liberties when it comes to the art in Mario or Donkey Kong games. Concept art for Donkey Kong Country Returns has been posted on ConceptArt.org, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. While it’s evident the final product takes a lot of inspiration from these concepts, it’d have been awesome to play a Donkey Kong game featuring this exact style. Take a look at them yourself.
