Toy Box: Jakks Pacific Deluxe Toad House Playset

Toy Box is a feature where we take a look at the wonderful world of video game toys and collectibles. For this edition, we’ll be taking a look at Jakks Pacific’s Deluxe Toad House Playset from the company’s Super Mario Bros. line of action figures.

It’s been a bit since our last edition of Toy Box. In that time, the world of video game toys and collectibles has become arguably bigger and more accessible than ever before. Leading the charge at mass market retailers like Target and Walmart is Jakks Pacific. The company has been producing toys based on Nintendo properties for years now. However, in recent times Jakks has scaled back a tad, focusing more on the Super Mario Bros. cast of characters.

A recent addition to the lineup is this glorious reproduction of a Toad House. Take a gander at the Deluxe Toad House Playset:

\ Sadly, this isn’t quit a full recreation of a Toad House, which is my one complaint with this set. Instead, it’s the front of the house with the backside representing the interior. Honestly, I’m almost 40 and never expected I’d have any kind of Toad dwelling in my collection, so it’s a disappoint I’ll happily live with.

The interior is great. Three treasure chests sit on the floor perfectly mimicking the chance games from Super Mario Bros. 3 and the New Super Mario Bros. series. The set also comes with a 2.5″ Toad to play with. If you have any of the other 2.5″ Super Mario figures they’ll fit right in with this set. It’s delightful as a display piece if you’ve been looking to spruce up your shelves.

The Deluxe Toad House Playset is a fairly reasonable $29.99 at most stores, but prices can vary. Keep your eyes peeled at GameStop, Target, Macy’s (in the retailer’s new Toys R Us section), and other stores. Have you added this one to your collection? Let us know in the comments!
