Really enjoyed listening to this. Nintendo have dropped the ball in the last few years sales wise. Everyone I know who owns a 360 has had it brake on them. When mine broke I kinda lost faith in MS and bought a PS3. Speaking of PS3, Sony had a terrible start this generation, but have come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years.
Leaves a lot of room to improve for the next generation, so I personally am looking forward to it (whenever that may be)
The Wii U will be like Obi-wan if will start out strong, disappear, come back (more unnoticed) then disappear in a flash and like when Kenobi was part of the force it will be remembered. And scratch out the old comment.
No. There is another…
Great travelogue! And as if by magic, I stumbled across this article today echoing many of your thoughts about Nintendo stumbling over its own innovation:

At one point I was considering getting a 360 just for Mass Effect because my laptop is so woefully underpowered, but as Lewis has mentioned, they’re so prone to breaking that it put me off altogether. Thankfully my brother has a PS3, and I’m starting to sneak in a few games that I’ve missed out on over the years. I’d also agree that the PS3 has more interesting games than the 360. *sigh* So many games but so little time!
Hey, I really liked this podcast…except for one thing. Who is that Doug Perry guy? He made me just want to punch that him in the face! Odd choice, I’ll say. Next thing you know, you’re gonna get Peer Schneider on and then let him talk all night long. Or, for god sakes, Matt Casamassina. What a tragedy that will be. ;)
Continuing on the Star Wars analogies…If the Wii is like Darth Maul, a one trick pony, then is Sony’s PS3 like Jabba the Hutt, passive, arrogant, and keeper of giant monsters in its dungeons?
Or maybe Boba Fett. Flies a cool-looking ship, blows up lots of stuff, but ultimately dies a super-underwhelming death. (Though I guess not in the Expanded Universe but NO SHUSH)
Jabba, you’re a wonderful human being.
~M.
Human, Marc? ;)
Might I suggest you go back and watch the “Special Editions,” as painful as that may be…?

I-I’m afraid I haven’t … had the, er … pleasure.
