5. Mighty No. 9 (Wii U/3DS)
Estimated Release Date: April
Speaking of games that play like Mega Man, it would be a crime to not mention Mighty No. 9! While we haven’t seen a new Mega Man game in ages from Capcom, series veteran Keiji Inafune is able to bring fans a similar experience by producing Mighty No. 9 through Kickstarter. In fact, Mighty No. 9 is basically a new side-scrolling Mega Man game, as you’ll be able to choose between eight different levels in any order, steal boss abilities upon defeating them, and use these abilities to exploit enemy weaknesses. Being a spiritual successor to a widely beloved series helped Mighty No. 9 raise over 4 million dollars, exceeding over 400% of the original goal set by the development team.
I’m hoping for A Hat in Time on Wii U in 2015.
Since there’s no release date yet it’s a bit of a long shot, I’ll admit. But they’ve stopped just short of announcing it for Wii U so I have faith.
If the developer confirmed that it was coming to Wii U this year, it would have definitely made this list. I wish we could hear more about the game’s release!
Great list! Some were expecting, some forgotten, and a few were completely new to me. Definitely some games worth looking forward to though.
Thanks for putting this list together! I have a hard time keeping track of these games, and so many of these are definitely worth looking forward to.
Thanks! That’s why I put the list together in the first place. Nintendo has great indie support and I’m happy to help promote these games.
Affordable Space Adventures – how could I have forgotten about this game? It looks great, and should be out this year.
Good choice! That’s also another one I wanted to put on the list that I didn’t have room for, along with Hex Heroes, Elliot Quest, and Adventures of Pip. Even then, I’m sure I’m missing a few that I’ve been excited for!
Haha it was really hard to condense this list just to ten games.
