Update: We recently reported in error that the full software lineup for Konami’s upcoming TurboGrafx-16 mini was revealed, when in fact there were still a handful of games yet to be unveiled. Now, we can finally peel back the curtain on the remaining seven titles that fans can look forward to playing:
- Dragon Spirit
- The Genji and the Heike Clans
- The Legend of Valkyrie
- Galaga ‘88
- Splatterhouse
- Seirei Senshi Spriggan
- Spriggan Mark 2
This brings the final software roster up to 57 games! The overall lineup is a really interesting mix of games and should be a delight to retro enthusiasts who may have never played them. What’s more, developer M2, the outfit responsible for emulation across countless retro consoles and in the eShop, will also be handling development duties for the TurboGrafx-16 mini. The retro console renaissance continues unabated. Sega’s upcoming Genesis/Mega Drive Mini is slated for September 19 of this year, the Capcom Home Arcade hits shelves shortly thereafter on October 25, and now Konami is getting in on the action with its upcoming TurboGrafx-16 mini! Now, as awesome as this is, to be fair, the proclamation of 50 games is slightly misleading. As Konami puts it on the official website for the system, 24 of these games are English TurboGrafx-16 games while 26 are Japanese PC Engine titles. The PC Engine being the name of the TurboGrax-16 in its homeland, for those who might be wondering. What makes the notion of getting 50 games arguably iffy is that some of these titles overlap; meaning, the mini comes with both the Japanese and English versions of certain games. Here’s the full list of TurboGrafx-16 software:

It’s a quirky decision, certainly, but still a fun way of reliving one of the more obscure (or perhaps lesser known is a better description) catalogues of games from the past 30 years. Konami is selling three total variants with the European PC Engine Core Grafx mini rounding out the trio. The retro console will only be available via Amazon, so follow this link if you’re interested in procuring one. Keep in mind that it’s possible to get all three iterations (and the accompanying lineups of games) if you can navigate having different Amazon accounts in multiple regions.
The TurboGrafx-16 mini launches March 19, 2020 and will sell for $99.99. There’s also the possibility to purchase a multitap and extra controllers for games like Bomberman ’94, so be sure to keep an eye out when shopping. The console is promising a Quick Save feature as well as a host of visual display options, as is now common with these retro systems.
