Following the recent news from Famitsu, Nintendo has released a trailer detailing the Amiibo features in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

As the magazine reported, tapping the Wolf Link Amiibo on the Wii U GamePad will unlock the Cave of Shadows, a series of challenges similar to the Cave of Ordeals, albeit for Wolf Link and Midna. While not quite as exciting as a new dungeon, as some earlier reports claimed, it’s nonetheless a nice bonus. Clearing the Cave of Shadows will earn you the Bottomless Wallet, and you can save a record of how many hearts you have remaining at the end of the Cave to the Wolf Link Amiibo in order to try to beat your best score.

Other Zelda Amiibo will also be compatible with the title, though their functionality is more limited. Tapping either the Link or Toon Link Amiibo will fully replenish your arrows; tapping either Zelda or Sheik will fully replenish your health; and tapping Ganondorf will cause you to take extra damage from foes. You can see the full breakdown of Amiibo features in the trailer below:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will be launching in North America on March 4. What are your thoughts on its Amiibo features? Are you excited to try the Cave of Shadows? Let us know in the comments!

Look, Twilight Princess is officially my favorite Zelda of all time. But couldn’t they have done a little more than just up-res it? This looks like a half assed effort to me. And the idea of an entire dungeon dedicated to wolf combat doesn’t appeal to me. Wolf link was one of my least favorite parts of the game.
