Although we’ve already transitioned into 2024, the video game world is not quite done with the previous year just yet. The New York Games Awards, which is put together by the New York Videogames Critics Circle,has released its list of nominees for the best of 2023, and a number Nintendo titles have made the cut. Nintendo software pops up quite a few other times, including nods for Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG, and Metroid Prime Remastered. There are other gems mixed in that are multiplatform on Nintendo hardware, such as Sea of Stars, which really hammers home what a magical year 2023 was for video games. The winners will be announced on January 23, 2024 with the ceremony being held at the SVA Theatre in New York, New York. The 13th New York Game Awards will be hosted by Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog—you can give it a watch at this link.
