When it was first announced that Minecraft would appear on Wii U, fans and pundits assumed that a mash-up pack featuring Nintendo characters was only inevitable. This morning, Nintendo and developer Mojang officially announced the title’s first Wii U-exclusive mash-up pack, unsurprisingly focused on Nintendo’s most popular icon! Check out the trailer for the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, which we’ve embedded below!
As we can see from the trailer, the mash-up pack includes a pre-made world that takes inspiration from notable Nintendo landmarks such as Peach’s Castle from Super Mario 64 and Isle Delfino from Super Mario Sunshine. The DLC offering will also include new music, item textures and 40 additional character skins.
The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will release for free on May 17. The mash-up pack will also be included with the game’s physical release, which will arrive June 16 for $29.99.
