Nintendo’s mobile offerings have been laser-focused in recent years, with only a handful of titles in operation and getting any meaningful updates. So, when the company decides to pull the trigger on something new on mobile, especially an entirely fresh IP, it’s worth paying attention to. In this case, Pictonico is the new game, and it will be releasing exclusively on Android and iOS smart devices. Take a look:
So, what the heck is Pictonico!? It’s a free-to-start game all about taking your old (or new) photos and doing all sorts of crazy things with them. Ever wanted to see your brother running from a hoard of zombies? What about seeing your grandma in a wacky costume? It’s all possible in Pictonico! If you feel like the game has a WarioWare vibe, good instincts—Pictonico! was developed by Intelligent Systems, and the irreverent humor and bizarre scenarios on display are very much up the studio’s alley.
As the description goes, this is a free-to-start title that gives you a few minigames to try for free, but if you want access to the 80 minigames available, you’ll need to purchase Volumes. Nintendo notes that the game can be played offline and the company allegedly doesn’t see your photos. Here’s a bit more about Pictonico!:
Rediscover old photos of loved ones and see them in a whole new light as they navigate everything from zombie attacks, quirky costume changes, carnival challenges and more.
This collection of comically chaotic minigames will let you encounter your photos in surprising ways, like skydiving with your grandma or watching your cousin perform as a ballerina. Plus, you can save the outlandish outcomes you’ve discovered as images or videos. Share them and laugh together!
