The PR folks at Nintendo are already back to work and gave us a juicy news bit in our mid-holiday break: Pokémon Black and White Versions will launch in North America on March 6, 2011. The games will retail for $34.99 each.
Other trivia you may not know or remember that Nintendo’s press release reminds us…
- The games will take place in a brand new region called Unova (see map above story)
- For the first time in the franchise’s history…
- Each game will boast a single unique area to itself. White will have White Forest (which is actually quite green, contrary to the name) and Black will have the urban Black City
- The game world will have changing seasons, and certain Pokémon will be more or less likely to appear in specific seasons
- Additional notes…
- The games will feature over 150 brand new Pokémon, and every Pokémon encountered in the main storyline, until its completion, will be brand new– so don’t expect to rock Pikachu from the get-go
- You can start as a male or female trainer, notably older/more mature looking than the series’ previous heroes
- Your starter Pokémon can be either the Grass-type Snivy, the Fire-type Tepig or the Water-type Oshawott (seen in the third image in the gallery below)
