Chrono Trigger is officially 30 years old. Three decades on and the game is as beloved as ever, with fans perpetually seeking for Square Enix to rerelease the game on whichever consoles are en vogue at the moment. Originally releasing on SNES back in 1995, Chrono Trigger has since been rereleased on PlayStation (2001) and Nintendo DS (2008), as well as mobile and PC. But still, fans aren’t satisfied and want yet more of the popular game, and Square Enix seems interested in delivering on that front.

In a statement on X, Square Enix said the following about the milestone:

Chrono Trigger

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Chrono Trigger in 1995. This timeless masterpiece that transcends generations and is still talked about today was born from a dream project by Yuji Horii of Dragon Quest, Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball, and Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy.

As we mark the 30th anniversary, we will be launching various projects that go beyond the world of the game over the next year to express our gratitude to everyone who has played Chrono Trigger so far. The latest information will be posted on Square Enix Official X and @ChronoTriggerPR, so please look forward to it.

Alas, there’s no word on Chrono Trigger rearing its head on Nintendo Switch, but hopefully that will change at some point. Still, in the meanwhile fans can look forward to a special livestream on the Square Enix Music Channel on YouTube spotlighting the game’s soundtrack. This will take place on March 14. While it’s disappointing that it doesn’t sound like the game is going to be getting any love, more Chrono Trigger in any form is always welcome.
