Sega intended for 2017 to be a big year for their mascot and, so far, it looks like they are delivering. First, Sonic Mania released to a positive reception among fans and critics alike thanks to its adherence to the series retro golden age, and the next modern take on the character, Sonic Forces, comes out in November. But it turns out that new game will have more content than we originally thought, thanks to the release of free DLC featuring Shadow that will be available alongside the new game at launch.
The content, entitled Episode Shadow will act as a prequel to the main game and focus on Sonic’s dark doppelganger, Shadow. In addition to the anti-hero’s antics, Sega states that the DLC will explore, “the fate of Team Dark, and the origin of the mysterious villain, Infinite.” They also released the following video showing off some Shadow-centric gameplay:
Sonic Forces and the Episode Shadow DLC will release on November 7.
