Are Silver and Gold Amiibo on the Way?

You know you would want one!

You know how it’s almost impossible to collect every single Amiibo that Nintendo releases? With a possible release of silver and gold variants of existing Amiibo, expect the quest to collect them all to become much more difficult in the future.

While nothing has been officially announced at the time of writing, NeoGAF user KTS2448 was able to find images of a gold and silver Mario Amiibo on CPSIA certificates through Nintendo’s website. The Amiibo variations closely resemble the Mario figure being made for Mario Party 10 and the certificates indicate that we’ll hear an announcement from Nintendo soon.

Would you buy a gold or silver Amiibo? Let us know in the comments!

Why would I want one of those? I don’t have any sort of draw towards rare Nintendo stuff.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go defend my Rosalina amiibo from the invaders outside.

Would I chase specially painted figures? No chance, when it’s virtually impossible to collect the normal ones already without resorting to obscene second-hand markets.

It’s a shame, really. These figures are something I would interested in if it was possible to purchase them normally – I rather like the gold Mario figure.

I’ve been a bit selective about Amiibo, myself. Snagged Mario, DK, Pikachu and Link and I plan to pick up Toad, Charizard and Pac-Man. I’m sure some fans will froth at the mouth over these, but I think I’ll sit these ones out.

I saw someone theorize that these could be for the final Club Nintendo “Gold” and “Platinum” rewards. I think it would make a lot of sense as a final thank you to loyal members.

Although that would be awesome, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me:

Didn’t NoA already state that Gold/Platinum rewards would be downloadable games?

Would they really spend this much money on a prize when their financial statements aren’t in amazing shape? (During peak Wii/DS years I might believe.)

And if this rumor was true, they wouldn’t even know how many to make until the final numbers for Gold/Platinum members are known… so why would let the designs leak out now? None of the other Club Nintendo rewards are even be produced yet, it seems. Hard to imagine this would be handled differently.

Here’s hoping I’m wrong though. These would easily be the best Club Nintendo rewards ever.
