First New Super Mario Bros. 2 Level Packs Available October 4

Earlier today, Nintendo of America aired a special “mini” edition of Nintendo Direct, which detailed the first batch of downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros. 2.

The presentation, which has been included in full below (and is coming off the heels of similar presentations in Europe and Japan), revealed that three new level packs for Coin Rush mode will be added to the eShop on October 4. These packs, which will retail for $2.50 a piece, include three original stages not found in the proper game, and will be available in three different varieties: Gold Rush Pack, which features stages littered with coins to collect; Coin Challenge Pack A, which will record your score on the game’s official website; and Nerve-Wrack Pack, which features more difficult levels designed to appeal to veteran Mario fans.

Before the end of the presentation, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime also announced that additional levels packs will be available to download at the end of October and in November, for which there will be other Nintendo Direct presentations in the near future.

European 3DS owners, however, don’t have to wait until October 4 to purchase this content; the initial batch of Coin Rush stages has already been added to the European eShop.
