Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack has just recently launched, but even prior to this addition to the service, things were already looking up. In its latest Corporate Management Briefing, Nintendo revealed that Nintendo Switch Online has now exceeded 32 million subscribers. This figure is current as of September 2021, so a month prior to the launch of the Expansion Pack tier.

Speaking of Expansion Pack, while Nintendo opted to not reveal any subscription data specific to the new tier of the service, the company did have this to say:

Going forward, we will continue to improve and expand both Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, striving to provide services that satisfy customers.

There are persistent rumors that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be making their way to NSO, so that could be part of Nintendo’s plan to “improve and expand” Expansion Pack. What else? It’s really anyone’s guess, at this point. What is known for sure is that, at least online, many fans have been displeased with the $50 price point for Expansion Pack, as well as the middling emulation quality. Hopefully as Nintendo works to make Expansion Pack better the company will address fan concerns and make its value more readily apparent.
