Nintendo President Satoru Iwata set tongues wagging when he was unable to attend E3 this year on the advice of doctors. We joined legions of Nintendo fans in wishing him well, but speculation continued in Japanese media this week when pictures of Iwata looking much thinner than he had previously surfaced. This didn’t go unnoticed by shareholders either. As a result, Nintendo officially responded on behalf of Mr. Iwata on Twitter, saying the following:
“I saw many worried comments over how thin I’ve become. The truth is that after a major operation, I lost weight, but during these past two and a half months, thankfully my weight has stabilized, and I’m progressing well. I would truly like to thank my doctors, the hospital staff, and everyone who has assisted me.”
