Mina the Hollower is the Next Game from Yacht Club

Shovel Knight has practically become a household name, what with multiple ports to a variety of consoles, including 3DS, Wii U, and Switch, not to mention a plethora of its own amiibo figures. Naturally, fans have been wondering ever since what developer Yacht Club Games would be tackling for its next full-fledged project. After years of waiting, the curtain has been pulled back and Mina the Hollower revealed as the team’s followup:

As the trailer shows, Mina has some major old school aesthetics going on. Indeed, the palette and screen resolution hew closely to the era of Game Boy Color, albeit slightly tweaked for today. Here’s how Yacht Club describes the game:

Shovel Knight was a standout thanks to its tight, challenging gameplay that was, along with its visuals, highly evocative of the 8-bit era of video games. Mina seems to be hoping to channel a lot of that same spirit. The comparisons between Link’s Awakening and Castlevania are apt, and given Yacht Club’s pedigree, it seems really likely that Mina has a solid shot of being every bit as memorable as Shovel Knight.
