Yes, you read that headline right!
Mewtwo was sorely missed by fans when he didn’t return to the Smash roster in Brawl. We all thought he’d never return when he was absent on both the Wii U and 3DS roster, but in a shocking turn of events, Mewtwo will be available as free DLC to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Fans will be able to master his psychic powers once again on Spring 2015.
Unfortunately, if you were planning on buying just one version, then you’re out of luck. Mewtwo will only be available to those that own both the 3DS and Wii U version, which is similar to the free Smash soundtrack offer on Club Nintendo. While I’m excited that Mewtwo has finally returned, I was only planning on buying the Wii U version of the game, making my feelings a bit mixed. What do you think about Mewtwo and his grand return? Let us know in the comments!

First let me say that I let out a big squeal of joy seeing that character model. Even though mewtwo wasn’t a great fighter in Melee, I enjoyed playing as him when I was younger.
I don’t own a 3DS and won’t be buying the game for that system, but I’m sure Nintendo will offer this as paid DLC soon after release. Money talks.
So cool. Nintendo just started out with DLC, and they’re already better at it than anyone else.
don’t own a 3DS so I’m bummed I’m missing out on that sweet sweet soundtrack! The kid wanted it sooooo bad!
I’ve already got the 3DS version, and I’m not missing the Wii U one. But you do have a point; it’s not fair to launch DLC exclusively to those who buy more.
The 3ds mewtwo looks more sinister.
I was terrible with Mewtwo… interested to see if they’ve changed his moveset up at all.
