For the first time since Madden 13 in 2012 on Wii U, of all systems, EA’s premier football sim will be coming to a Nintendo console. Madden 26 will hit the gridiron on August 14, 2025. Nintendo shared the new via its official X account:

Not unlike going to a modern NFL game, be sure to bring your wallet along for the fun, as the new “premium” tier pricing of $79.99 will be attached to this one. Mario Kart World made similar waves when it was revealed that it, too, will have an MSRP of $80, something that isn’t sitting well with many a fan. Beyond that, many have also been wondering about College Football coming to Switch 2, and it looks like, for this year at least, EA is choosing to punt on that one.
EA is likely testing the waters with Madden 26 to see if Nintendo fans are still interested in the series after so long away. Indeed, it’s also unclear if Nintendo fans will even be getting the full, unfettered Madden experience when Madden 26 launches. When the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct was broadcast a couple of weeks ago, EA gave a statement to Eurogamer regarding Madden and Football Club declaring that “both experiences are being built specifically for the new handheld platform, grounded in what fans enjoy from our franchises across platforms.”

Will the fidelity of Madden 26 on Nintendo Switch 2 reach the same level as previous entries on other platforms? Fans will have to wait and see…
For fans that have been playing FIFA/Football Club on Nintendo Switch all these years, EA has been offering so-called Legacy Editions of the game. These Legacy Editions are virtually just glorified roster updates each year with a base game that’s missing many of the features that fans enjoy from FIFA/Football Club on other platforms. Which thus begs the questions, will Madden 26 be legit Madden, or will it, too, be a truncated offering? In fairness, Football Club 24 and 25 came bundled with all of the features found on other platforms, so maybe EA is finally starting to treat Nintendo fans with the same care as others.
Time will tell. As we learn more about Madden 26, we’ll keep you all posted.
