After the rousing success of previous toys-to-life initiatives like Activision’s Skylanders series and Nintendo’s line of Amiibo figures, Lego has announced its own entry in the burgeoning genre: Lego Dimensions.
Like Disney Infinity before it, Lego Dimensions draws from the full spectrum of Lego licenses, featuring characters and settings from Lego Batman, Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Ninjago, and many, many more. Prospective fans will be able to purchase the Lego Dimensions Starter Pack, which will include the following items: a copy of the game, three minifigures (Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie), a Lego Toy Pad, and a Lego Batmobile vehicle. You can watch the game’s announcement trailer below.
Lego Dimensions will be coming to Wii U and other home consoles later this year. The game is slated to launch in North America on September 27, with a European release following two days later on September 29.
