Long-term Mario RPG fans will be disappointed to hear that Geno, a character originally from Super Mario RPG, will not be making an appearance in the upcoming Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions.
Geno had a cameo in the original GBA version of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga as an NPC who gives the player instructions on the Star ‘Stache Smash minigame.
It appears that the minigame has been reskinned in the 3DS version of the game in order to exclude Geno. A full comparison between the two versions can be seen in this video from GameXplain.
The character hasn’t been featured in many games in the past two decades, but there was a Geno costume released for Miis in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
There isn’t a clear reason why the minigame was re-skinned, but be sure to let us know in the comments if the removal of Geno is causing your blood to boil.
